Every plate at your gate, on the record

A dedicated LPR camera captures plates at entrances — searchable events, entry/exit history, and unknown-vehicle alerts.

What you get

  • Dedicated, purpose-mounted LPR camera at your entrance
  • Vehicle plate capture with timestamps
  • Searchable plate events
  • Entry/exit event history
  • Authorized plate lists where supported
  • Unknown vehicle alerts
  • Event clips tied to each capture

Built for gates, yards and lots

Wide-area AI tells you a vehicle entered. LPR tells you which vehicle — the difference between “something happened” and an evidence-grade record. On a dealership lot it means every after-hours vehicle movement is attributable. On an equipment yard it means the 5:40 AM flatbed that left with your skid steer has a plate attached to the event.

LPR is an add-on to any SiteFortress system; placement is configured at deployment so the camera sees plates at your actual gate geometry.

Common questions

Can a surveillance trailer read license plates?

Reliably capturing plates requires a purpose-specific camera. The SiteFortress360 LPR add-on (+$199/mo) mounts a dedicated, lower-positioned LPR camera aimed at your entrance — not the wide-angle cameras at the top of the mast. It captures plates on vehicles entering and exiting, stores them as searchable events with timestamps, and can alert on unknown vehicles.

Why is the LPR camera mounted lower than the other cameras?

Plate capture is an angle-and-optics problem. From 20 ft up, a camera sees roofs, not bumpers. The LPR camera sits at plate height on the unit or a dedicated mount, with optics and processing tuned for plates — while the mast cameras keep doing wide-area detection.

What can I do with the plate data?

Search events by plate, review entry/exit history with timestamps, maintain authorized plate lists where supported (your crews, your carriers), and get alerts on unknown vehicles. For dealerships and equipment yards this becomes an audit trail: every vehicle movement at the gate, on the record.

Which industries benefit most from LPR?

Car dealerships (inventory protection + after-hours lot activity), equipment yards (what truck left with what trailer), gated commercial properties, storage facilities, and parking facilities. Pair LPR with gate control for plate-based authorized entry as the integration matures.
